PlantScraper Chunky Perlite 8.5L

The foundation of every serious aroid substrate mix.

Perlite is not all the same. Particle size determines how well it prevents compaction, how effectively it creates air pockets around roots, and how much it actually improves drainage rather than just adding bulk. PlantScraper's Chunky Perlite uses oversized particles of 5-15mm — significantly larger than standard horticultural perlite — producing the kind of open, airy substrate structure that rare aroids require to develop strong, healthy root systems.

It is inert, pH-neutral and sterile, which means it introduces no unwanted variables into a carefully managed grow environment. Made in Europe exclusively for PlantScraper.

For collectors growing rare Alocasia, Monstera or Anthurium, chunky perlite is a non-negotiable component of any substrate mix. It prevents the compaction that suffocates roots, eliminates standing water at the root zone, and creates the consistent aeration that tropical aroids are adapted to in their natural habitat.

Key properties:
Particle size 5-15mm. 100% expanded volcanic glass. Inert, pH-neutral and sterile. Made in Europe exclusively for PlantScraper.

How to use:
Mix into existing potting soil to improve drainage and aeration. Use as a standalone propagation medium for cuttings and corms. Combine with orchid bark, tree fern fiber and coco husk chips for fully customised substrate blends.

Packaging:
8.5L in a resealable, recyclable bag. Store in a cool dry place. Reseal after use to prevent contamination and preserve structure.
