Plantscraper's Sphagnum Moss 300g
PlantScraper Sphagnum Moss 300g — Long Fiber
The propagation medium serious collectors actually use.
Not all sphagnum moss is the same. Fiber length determines how well it holds structure around a cutting, how evenly it retains moisture, and how long it stays workable before breaking down. PlantScraper's long-fiber sphagnum (up to 15cm per fiber) is sourced from Chile — one of the few regions producing moss at the quality and fiber length that rare plant propagation demands.
It is naturally antimicrobial and anti-fungal, which matters when you are working with rare corms, delicate aerial roots or freshly taken cuttings where any fungal pressure can end a propagation before it starts. The moss creates a stable, breathable microclimate around developing roots — retaining moisture without becoming waterlogged, and supporting the kind of consistent humidity that rare aroids need to establish.
What it works for:
Propagating rare aroid cuttings and corms, moss pole filler, vivarium and terrarium base layers, orchid bark mixes, carnivorous plant setups.
Key properties:
Long fiber up to 15cm. Naturally antimicrobial and anti-fungal. Expands to approximately 10-12L when fully hydrated. 100% Chilean long-fiber sphagnum moss.
How to use:
Hydrate fully before use — the dry block expands significantly. Wrap directly around cuttings or aerial roots for propagation. Pack into moss poles or use as a liner inside pots for added humidity. Layer as a base in terrariums or mix with orchid bark for moisture control.
Packaging:
300g loose fibers in a recyclable plastic bag. Store dry and sealed. Once opened, keep in an airtight container. Do not store damp.
